Elected unopposed

T.V.N. KUTTY and Younus Quraishi were elected unopposed respectively as the President and General Secretary of the Indian Social Centre, Al Ain, for 2005-06. Others who were elected unopposed included Koshy Baburajan (Treasurer), Ouseph Jose Naduvathani (Assistant Treasurer), Dalwai Raphik (Auditor) and Salman Ahmed (Assistant Auditor).

Election of the new office-bearers was held on March 31, and out of total of 921 members eligible to vote, 777 turned out to cast their vote. A total of 17 posts were at stake, out of which 6 were declared elected unopposed. Voting took place for the remaining 11 positions.

Those who were declared elected after polling included Naresh Kumar Suri (Vice-President), A Omanakuttan (Asst General Secretary), E.K. Salam (Enter. Secretary), Noushad C.K. (Assistant Enter. Secretary), Sudhakaran (Sports Secretary), Eassa Karuvante Valappil (Assistant Sports Secretary), Joseph Sibi (Literary and Fine Arts Secretary), Abdul Lathif O.P. (Assistant Literary and Fine Arts Secretary).

Chaine des Rotisseurs

THE next Chaine dinner in the Capital of the Eastern Region will take place on April 12. The venue is the Al Ain Rotana Hotel and participants should assemble at 8.15pm for 9pm.

As usual dress for men is black tie, lounge suit or national dress, and for ladies, glamorous. Price for the 7 course culinary extravaganza with accompanying beverages is Dh200 for members and Dh250 for guests and non-members.

Men in Black

THE Streetwise production of "Men in Black" will be staged in the InterContinental Resort Al Ain, Ballroom on Friday, April 8, 2005, with doors open at 7.30pm. The entrance is Dh125 but if you book by the April 6, you get two tickets for the price of one.

“Men in Black’ are a sextet of West End quality performers whose performance is described as cabaret style vocal harmony with a twist of humour. The group presents hit songs from the last 50 years, including Good Vibrations, Tears in Heaven, Longest Time, River of Dreams, I Saw Her Standing There and Jumping Jack Flash.
