Death rate from traffic accidents down by 17 per cent during May

DUBAI — Death rates from traffic accidents have decreased 17 per cent during May, according to the Traffic Department statistics. The statistics also showed that the injury rates have also decreased by 21 per cent.

Brigadier Mohammed Saif Al Zafin, Director of Traffic Department in Dubai Police, said: “We encourage everyone to abide with the traffic laws and regulations in order to decrease the number of deaths and injuries on the roads. The strategy used by the department was successful and we managed to decrease these rates but it still needs cooperation from the motorists.”

Brig. Al Zafin added that run over accidents are the most dangerous causes of deaths and injuries in traffic accidents. Around 22 per cent of injuries were due to run over accidents.
