Customised car numbers’ auction fetches Dh3.39m

DUBAI — Car numbers 191 and 151 in the E code category each fetched Dh200,000 at the 9th car customised number auction held at the Traffic Department at Al Barsha yesterday. The numbers on offer fetched Dh3,395,000 in total.

The auction included 65 numbers (three-, four- and five-digit numbers in the E code). The three-digit selection of 14 numbers, of a base value of Dh80,000 each, fetched Dh1.945 million. It included the following numbers: 191, 151, 252, 323, 515 , 757 , 868, 929 , 272 , 353, 595, 797, 898, 979.

The four-digit selection included 24 numbers that fetched Dh527,000. The base value of each number was Dh10,000. The selection included: 1118, 2225, 3332, 4442, 5558, 6667, 7774, 8889, 9996.

There were also nine five-digit numbers that fetched Dh635,000. The base value was Dh50,000. It included the following numbers: 11000, 22000, 33000, 44000, 55000, 66000, 77000, 88000, 99000.

The last selection included 18 five-digit numbers and fetched Dh288,000. The base value was Dh5,000 each. They included: 12111, 24222, 35333, 43444, 51555, 62666, 73777, 82888, 94999, 19111, 28222 37333, 46444, 57555, 67666, 78777 , 89888 , 96999.

Brigadier Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, Director of Dubai Traffic Police Department, who supervised the auction, said the auctions, since their launch in June 2001, fetched more than Dh180 million.

To enter the auction, the bidder pays a non-refundable Dh100, in addition to Dh1,000 as a guarantee deposit, which would be deducted from the value of the number bought, or returned to the bidder if he or she could not get a number in the auction.
