DUBAI — Contradicting news reports that appeared in a section of the media, a Dubai Municipality (DM) official has reiterated that only one family can stay in a villa.
“Suppose there is a family consisting of a man, wife and a kid. The kid grows up to marry and sets up his own family. In this case, we’ll not consider it to be a different family and the whole family can stay in a single villa. But then, cousins, uncles, aunts etc cannot be called one single family,” he made it clear.
The official said that the rule applied to many families sharing a one villa. “This (many families sharing villas) has been the reason for illegal partitions, accidents and unhygienic environment,” the official said.
