ABU DHABI — Abdullah Mohair Al Kitbi, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative on Wednesday inaugurated Al Mirfa Corniche development project of the Western Region Municipality, to give a face-lift to the area.
The project, spread over an area of 11 hectares, will have date palms, ornamental trees and colourful flowers as part of the beautification process. Other facilities include green spaces planted with grass and seasonal flowers.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Hamoud Humaid Al Mansouri, Director General of the Western region Municipality, Mousabbah Mubarak Al Marar, CEO for the City and Suburb Services Sector in Al Mirfa, Rakan Mohammed Al Marar, Director of Themed Parks and Entertainment Facilities in the city and a number of officials of the municipality.
The opening of the Corniche is part of the vision of the Western Region Municipality to make Al Gharbia a paradigm for modernity in accordance with the strategic vision of the Abu Dhabi Government 2030.
The execution of the project has been made as per international standards to provide best services and means of entertainment to visitors and residents, he said.
The Corniche will have an irrigation network to water the green areas with a water pipe that extends over 3.5 kilometers. An area of 6,000 square meters made of granite and decorated with traditional Arabian designs will be earmarked for people to relax and enjoy, said Al Kitbi.
Other structures include a wooden entrance to the 12,000 square metre beach, three fountains and lights which will provide a picturesque view to the place.
The facilities also include five areas for people will to relax, prayer rooms for men and women, bathrooms and 50 car parks on both sides of the corniche, he added. — anwar@khaleejtimes.com
