This toilet was shut down for maintenance recently and has no power or water supply. While the maintenance work is yet to commence, some members of the public reportedly broke open the lock of the toilet and started using it illegally.

Al Mowaijy Market area is popular for its crowded restaurants and shops. Residents as well as visitors have been urging the local authorities to set up several public toilets.

Dr Salim Al Kaaby, Director of AAPHD, said the department had plans to construct new toilets in several parts of Al Ain city. For this, AAPHD will soon sign contracts with specialised companies to install several modern lavatories in the city, he said.
