Parking division or Mawaqif of Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport wins international recognition

Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport has won two international awards for its state-of-the-art parking plaza project recently.
The parking division or Mawaqif of the department got the international recognition for best design and sustainable parking facility at the International Parking Institute (IPI) conference.
The Mawaqif was one among 130 international experts who participated in the conference that was held in Tennessee, USA, from May 16 to 20.
The parking division also gave an academic presentation titled 'The Abu Dhabi Parking Pricing Strategy: Managing the Conflicting Priorities of Parking Management.'
Mawaqif attributed the awards of excellence to Al Dana multi-storey building that is located in Sector 11 East for the following categories:
Best Design of a Parking Facility with less than 800 spaces; and Award for New Sustainable Parking and Transportation Facilities Excellence.
While talking about its achievements, Mawaqif highlighted Al Dana building that was designed to utilise environment friendly technologies with the highest standards of safety for the public.
This project comes as part of DMAT's strategy to provide an effective parking system and upgrade the overall transport infrastructure in Abu Dhabi according to the highest international standards.
In addition, Mawaqif said that the organisers of the conference had issued a plaque to the general contractor, the consultant, project manager and engineer.
The annual conference offers the participants the networking opportunities to connect with professionals from the parking industry.
