DUBAI - A total of 24 policemen in Dubai have completed a VIP protection and advanced driving course, further enabling the force to handle top security assignments and enhancing the police strategic plan that extend to the year 2015.
Captain Abdullah Khalifa, Head of the VIP Protection Section and scientific coordinator of the course, said the activities were being supervised by Swiss experts.
He said the course was part of efforts prepare the UAE for major activities to be hosted by the the country. Dubai next month will be the first city in the Middle East and the Arab world to host the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund in Dubai.
Capt Khalifa said the course was aimed at providing the participants with highly advanced skills. The spirit of team work was enhanced during the programme, he said. The training plan featured theoretical and practical classes.
The Swiss expert praised the serious effort made by the participants. He said they had been strong enough to bear the tough training and night exercises. Officials said more courses would be concluded soon as the countdown to the Annual Meetings approaches.
