As India celebrates its Independence Day, we are reminded not just of a historic struggle but of a nation’s unflinching commitment to shaping its own future.
August 15 is a day of deep pride for every Indian, both in the homeland and across the global diaspora. It is a time to reflect on how far the country has come, from its early post-independence challenges to becoming one of the most dynamic and resilient economies of the 21st century.

In recent years, India has emerged as a key player on the world stage. Transformational initiatives like Digital India, Start-Up India, and Make in India have redefined our economic outlook, fostering innovation, empowering small businesses, and digitising services at a scale few other nations have achieved. These programmes have not only propelled India’s growth domestically but have also strengthened its reputation internationally as a hub of technology, creativity, and ambition.
This same spirit resonates powerfully within the Indian diaspora in the UAE, the largest Indian expatriate population in the world. With over 4.3 million Indians living and working here, the Indian community has become an integral part of the UAE’s social and economic fabric. Across every sector, from trade and finance to education and healthcare, Indians have contributed meaningfully to the progress of the Emirates while upholding their cultural identity and values.
The bilateral relationship between India and the UAE continues to grow in depth and dimension. Agreements such as the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the integration of digital payment platforms like UPI and RuPay are emblematic of a maturing partnership built on mutual trust and economic synergy. The bond between the two nations goes beyond diplomatic agreements; it is anchored in shared aspirations for prosperity, innovation, and inclusive development.
