The UAE's Founding Father, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, has inspired generations across the world with his life and vision.
Remembering the legacy of the great leader, Jamia Markaz, an Islamic cultural and educational centre in Kerala, will be holding the Sheikh Zayed International Peace Conference under the theme of 'World Free from Terrorism'. This will be the first major event by the group to commemorate the birth centenary of Sheikh Zayed.
Jamia Markaz, based in Kozhikode district of south Indian state of Kerala, is marking its 40th year with many programmes from Friday. The headline event of Sheikh Zayed International Peace Conference will be held on Saturday.
On Tuesday, Jamia Markaz held the national integration conference in Kozhikode, where Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Thamarassery bishop Mar Remigiose Inchananiyil unveiled the logo for the Sheikh Zayed Peace Conference.
Kerala Chief Minister noted Islamophobia was growing in the world and such events were a great way to promote peace.
Jamia Markaz chancellor Sheikh Aboobacker Ahmed Kanthapuram said that with his extraordinary vision, Sheikh Zayed has left a remarkable legacy.
"The conference will recognise the effort of the great leader to achieve the principles of peace and security. Through the conference, we will pay tribute to the outstanding contributions of Sheikh Zayed in spreading the message of unity and brotherhood throughout the world," said the prominent leader of Sunni Muslims in India.
Kanthapuram noted that in a fast-changing world, Sheikh Zayed's teachings are more important than before.
"We, at Jamia Markaz, are happy that the third edition of this conference will coincide with the declaration of Year of Zayed and the birth centenary."
There will be a distinguished line-up of educationalists, scholars and politicians who will be part of the peace conference. And Jamia Markaz has planned year-long activities to spread the message of love and peace.
