Yemen's Sanaa airport suspends all flights 'until further notice' after Israeli strikes

The airport in Yemen's rebel-held capital Sanaa has suspended all flights until further notice, its director said on Wednesday, after it sustained "severe damage" in Israeli strikes a day earlier.

"As a result of the Zionist aggression on Sanaa International Airport that resulted in severe damage, it has been decided to suspend all flights to and from the airport until further notice," said the airport's general director Khaled alShaief.

Yemen's international airport was "completely destroyed" in Israeli air strikes on the rebel-held capital Sanaa on Tuesday, an airport official told AFP earlier.

Israel had earlier warned people to leave the area around Sanaa International Airport, one day after Israeli forces carried out airstrikes on Hodeidah port in Yemen in response to a Houthi missile landing near Israel's main air hub on Sunday.
