The ‘Fifth GCC Workshop on Rational Use of Electricity and Water’, on March 5 and 6, will also focus on the role of designs of buildings and networks and modern technology in conservation efforts. Experiences of countries that have made significant headway in the field will be examined in detail.
To be hosted by the Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW), the workshop will discuss a total of 13 papers, including five from Oman. Top officials from electricity and water departments from the six GCC countries will take part in the conference.
Oman will be hosting the event as it gets ready to begin work on a joint project between PAEW and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to rationalise water and power consumption.
A team of experts from the Tokyo Electric Power Company are on a two-week visit here to study power and water systems currently in use in the country, consumption patterns in the different sectors and existing legislations governing the sector.
