Will try 'to restore life' to city: Yemen govt announces Aden liberation

Yemen's internationally recognised government has announced the liberation of the country's second city, Aden, following four months of intense battles with Houthi rebels.
Yemen's Vice President Khaled Bahah said on his Facebook account on Friday that his government will try "to restore life" to the southern port city.
"The government announces the liberation of the province of Aden on the first day of Eid Al Fitr, which corresponds with July 17," Bahah said.
He noted that "We will work to restore life in Aden and all the liberated cities, to restore water and electricity."
Fighters for the Popular Resistance - an anti-Houthi southern militia - have been making significant gains against their rebel opponents this week, including recapturing the provincial government headquarters in the Mualla district, opposite Aden's main commercial port.
On Tuesday, loyalist forces launched Operation Golden Arrow against the Houthi rebels who seized control of much of Aden in March.
Several ministers and top intelligence officials of the Yemeni government returned to Aden on Thursday for the first time since the Houthis captured the city in March.
