The Headquarters of National Resistance, which unites Ukraine’s three leading opposition parties, said Friday that the last of the 234 jailed demonstrators has been freed.

The prisoner releases were part of an amnesty law passed by parliament last month, as part of a bid to end the crisis threatening President Viktor Yanukovych.

It was unclear whether protesters would vacate the government buildings they have been occupying in Kiev and in western parts of the country, as stipulated in the law as a condition for amnesty.
