Two jailed for illegal entry

MUSCAT - A court in Khasab, Musandam governorate, has sentenced two foreigners to six months in jail for entering the country illegally. The Primary Court also ordered their deportation after they serve their term.

The defendants were caught by Coast Guard as they tried to sneak into Oman.
In another court case, an expatriate trader was fined RO1,000 by the Bid Bid Primary Court in the Dhakhliyah governorate for violating the Consumer Protection Law. He was also jailed for a month and fined another RO100 for breaching the Labour Law. The man was caught selling banned chewing tobacco and also charged with working for someone other than his legal sponsor.
