How many of us use a bookmark to return to the page we were reading? We usually use a ruler or pencil; an old movie or bus ticket, but rarely an actual bookmark, unless someone had gifted one.
In a not-so-tasteful tweet on Monday, snacks giant Chex Mix trolled followers by writing, "Don't have a bookmark? Try using Chex Mix instead."
The Chex Mix post unleashed a wave of memes worldwide. Vitaminwater, a beverage brand owned by the Coca-Cola Company, was the next to add to the book lovers' palpitation, pouring the pink drink over book pages. Oreo then took the challenge to a messy level by posting the photo of a book stuffed with cookies and milk splashed all over. However, publishers Random House, heart-broken by the mutilation of books, cried halt to the madness. It retweeted Oreo's take on the meme, noting, "This is the worst social media challenge in history and we demand you all stop at once."
