HYDERABAD - A city court has directed the police to register a case against Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Praveen Togadia for an alleged hate speech he had delivered at Nanded in Maharashtra on January 22 this year.
The Seventh Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate issued the orders to Kanchanbagh Police Station following a complaint filed by Mohammed Arshad, a city resident, alleging that Togadia had hurt the sentiments of Muslims during his speech at Bhokar town in Nanded district.
Arshad, in his complaint, alleged that the VHP leader had justified the killing of Muslims in riots in various states including Gujarat, Assam and Bihar.
The court directed the police to register a case against Togadi under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
