Steep hike in Oman visa fees

MUSCAT - Oman has announced a steep hike in fees for most types of visas. The three-week-valid ‘Express’ visa will now cost RO30 instead of RO7, while the fee for family joining and family residence visas has been raised to RO20 from RO7.

Student visa, with validity ranging from one to two years, will now be RO20 against RO7 previously. The new fee for single-entry visit visas for relatives and friends is RO20, compared to RO6 earlier.

The fee for employment contract visa has been hiked to RO20 from RO6. The revised guidelines stipulate that applicants for temporary job visas must be at least 21 years old and the visa will be valid only for three months.

The fee for the three-month valid official visit visa is RO20, while visas for artistes will now cost RO20 instead of RO6 previously and multiple entry visa RO50 instead of RO10.

Entry visa fee for foreigners who are residents in GCC states, which was RO3 earlier, has gone up to RO5. Expatriates below 18 years can enter free of charge.

Visitors coming through land borders can now stay in the sultanate for five days instead of three.

Tourist visa fee has been increased to RO20 from RO5 and emergency visa will cost RO15. The new fee for transfer of work visa is RO15. Those applying for an investor’s visa must contact the ministry of manpower.
