The city cable operators at a Press conference warned that unless the authorities provided them security and take appropriate action against the criminals they will have no option but to shut down their services. “We are left at the mercy of criminals and despite our repeated requests to the authorities to provide us security no steps have been taken by the authorities”, claimed officials of the cable TV operators association.

Although the cable operators officials avoided to name the political party workers involved, but indicated the supporters belonged to Awami National Party (ANP) who were unhappy with party’s the coverage by the electronic media particularly Geo, a sister organisation of the country’s biggest and most popular media group, Jang.

However, ANP Sindh leader and newly-elected senator, Shahi Syed, rejected that ANP workers were involved in the incident . He demanded that law enforcers should deal with such criminals without fear and favour.

“Our party firmly believes in the freedom of Press and condone such action and urge the authorities to take stern action against those involved in such criminal activities”, he told newsmen.
