A delivery driver has been hailed a hero after he caught a baby that had fallen from the 13th-floor balcony of an apartment bock in Ha Noi, Vietnam.
Two separate videos that captured the incident have since gone viral, and Nguyen Ngoc Manh, 31, has won widespread praise for his actions.
The first video, recorded on a phone by a woman living in the opposite apartment block, shows the three-year-old girl dangling from a balcony railing, clinging onto it after she had presumably climbed over it.
The second video, taken from security camera footage, shows Manh climbing onto a corrugated roof on the ground floor moments before, and managing to catch the baby before she hit the ground.
Although the child suffered a dislocated hip from the fall, she is recovering well in hospital and is expected to leave soon, according to Vietnam News.
On Monday, Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc sent a letter praising Mạnh for his bravery.
"I ask the Ha Noi People's Committee and the Central Committee of Emulation and Commendation to recognise Nguyễn Ngọc Mạnh's shining example of a noble gesture, kindness and compassion so we will have more people like him in society."
The Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee announced that Manh will receive a certificate and a cash reward for his bravery.
