Pakistan's Imran Khan awards provisional provincial status to Gilgit-Baltistan

Dubai - Khan is visiting Gilgit to attend the celebration of the 73rd Independence Day of Gilgit-Baltistan being observed on the day.

Pakistan's prime minister Imran Khan on Sunday announced provisional provincial status for Gilgit-Baltistan.

Khan is visiting Gilgit to attend the celebration of the 73rd Independence Day of Gilgit Baltistan being observed on the day.


On November 1, 1947, Gilgit Baltistan declared independence and joined Pakistan.

The prime minister will attend the Independence Day parade and address the gathering, a PM Office press release said.


During the visit, the prime minister will also visit the Astore national park as well as Diamer Bhasha Dam to review the ongoing construction work.
