5 Filipinos rescued from cargo ship attacked by Houthi rebels in Red Sea

Rescue operations are still ongoing, according to the Philippines' Department of Foreign Affairs

Five of the 21 Filipino seafarers aboard the cargo vessel Eternity C have been rescued following an attack by Houthi forces in the Red Sea, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed Wednesday night, the Philippine News Agency reported.

DFA Undersecretary Eduardo Jose De Vega said the ship has sunk and that rescue operations are still ongoing.

"We know of two casualties. We cannot confirm four. We assume they are Filipino," De Vega said, noting that the nationalities of the deceased have yet to be officially verified.
