Moon-sighting committees in countries all around the world are gathering to see the Ramadan crescent, which marks the start of the holy month of Ramadan.

These countries have not spotted the moon on February 28, making March 2 the first day of Ramadan:

Iran: The crescent was not spotted in the sky, Iran's official news agency (IRNA) said. Authorities have declared hence that Shaban will complete 30 days this year and so Ramadan starts on Sunday.

Morocco: The UAE's Astronomy Centre said that Muslims in the kingdom will start to observe fasting on March 2.

Brunei: The centre also announced on Friday that the holy month will begin on March 2 in this country.

Malaysia: Local media in Malaysia have revealed that the Ramadan crescent was not spotted in the country, implying that the holy month will begin on March 2.

Iraq: The Shiite Grand Ayatollah Ali Al Sistani declared Sunday as the start of the holy month, while the Sunni Endowment Diwan in the country and the Kurdistan region have announced that Ramadan will start on March 1.

Philippines: The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos has announced that the moon was not sighted on February 28. It officially declared that the holy month will commence on Sunday, March 2, 2025.

India: After the crescent was not spotted in Lucknow on February 28, it was announced that the first day of the holy month will be on March 2.

Pakistan: The Ramadan crescent could not be seen in Pakistan, as the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee convened in Peshawar on Friday under Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad. So, the first day of Ramadan has been declared as March 2.
