Fourteen people, including two women were killed and nearly 80 injured, allegedly as a result of police firing when PAT workers resisted attempts to dismantle barriers erected around party’s central secretariat and Qadri’s residence.

In a five-point statement issued by the APC, the parties demanded the formation of a full bench of the Supreme Court to investigate the Model Town incident. The joint notification issued by the APC participants asked for the dismissal of police and other government officials involved in the incident and called for the president to suspend those who fail to do so. It also demanded constitution of a commission powerful enough that could summon the prime minister as well.

The notification also demanded dismissal of cases registered against the PAT supporters affected in the Model Town incident.

Around 50 members from political and religious parties were in attendance including leaders of Pakistan Muslim League- Quaid (PML-Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) vice-chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Rabita committee member Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed.

The Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had informed Qadri in advance that they would not attend the conference.

The PAT chief, who had announced the meeting on June 26, thanked all party members who came to the conference.
