The director of the Excise and Taxation Department said the office was sealed due to non-payment of property tax amounting to Rs3,50,128. There were a few protestors outside the secretariat who did not let the Excise and Taxation officials unseal the PTI office for some time. The CM secretariat said that the matter needs to be resolved on the table.

PTI’s Punjab President Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed said that the tax has been paid and also produced the previous year’s receipt that cited tax payment in the past. He said the due date for the payment was November 23 and condemned the sealing of the office a day before. Rasheed said that the Excise and Taxation Department had imposed commercial tax rather than domestic tax, although the secretariat operates in a house donated by a PTI supporter.
