Islamabad — Former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari has said that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) did nothing for Pakhtuns during the first two years of its government in the province.

Addressing a PPP workers’ convention in Peshawar, he said the PTI government failed to deliver despite having majority in the province. “The tsunami emerged from Karachi but lost effect in Punjab and Balochistan. So how did it (tsunami) reach KPK , we know that,” said Zardari.

He took credit for changing the name of the province from NWFP to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “No one dared to change the name of the province which was a decades-old demand of Pakhtuns,” he said.

The workers’ convention was also addressed by former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, PPP provincial president Khanzada Khan, Arbab Alamgir and other leaders of the party.

Zardari accused the judiciary of preventing him from meeting the party workers and said that nobody could draw that wedge now. He said he would address party conventions in every district and added that Bilawal would also be coming to Pakistan.
