Federal minister Zahid Hamid presented the bill during the session presided over by Deputy Chairman Sabir Baloch.

On this occasion, major opposition parties including the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), the Awami National Party (ANP), the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) protested against the ordinance.

Presenting the bill Zahid Hamid said, “We have considerably changed the bill and as far as clauses related to detentions are concerned, they have been taken from already existing law of Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.”

PPP Senator Raza Rabbani labelled the bill as a ‘black law’ and said that it violates the fundamental human rights. — Online
