Postman’s suicide sparks protest in Pakistan

The General Post Office (GPO) employees went on a strike after one of their colleagues committed suicide here on Friday.

Postman Shahid Amin, 36, committed suicide due to work overload. His colleagues told the media that he was transferred from his own area, Badami Bagh, to another area and it increased his work and tension.

Shahid, father of two, sent his children to school and ended his life in a room of his house.

The GPO employees raised slogans against the officer who transferred Shahid and demanded of the government to give facilities to the postmen. — Online
