Pakistani Singer gunned down in Peshawar
Local singer Wazir Khan Afridi was shot dead on Wednesday by unidentified gunmen in Peshawar’s Faqir Killay locality.
According to police, the singer was travelling in his car in Faqir Killay area when armed attackers riding on a mororcycle opened fire on him. The singer died on the spot while the assailants managed to flee.
The police reached the scene and shifted the body to Lady Reading Hospital for post mortem
Afridi, was a well-known singer from the Khyber Agency area, who has to his credit more than 40 albums. Earlier, there were reports that Afridi, after being displaced from Bara, was facing threats from militants to stop singing or face death. The reports had also quoted Afridi as saying that he had been abducted three times from Peshawar and was freed each time on the condition that he would not sing anymore. — Online
