After months of drought, heavy rain and strong winds have hit Lebanon this weekend, causing flooding and material damage across the country.

Four small training planes parked on the tarmac of Beirut’s international airport were heavily damaged when they overturned and rammed into a nearby electricity pole Saturday. A flight from Bahrain was diverted to neighbouring Syria.

Officials on Sunday said a Lebanese woman died late Saturday when an uprooted palm tree landed on her car in the northern port city of Tripoli.
