Oman, Portugal sign deal on museums

MUSCAT - Portugal will assist Oman in developing its museums under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed here on Monday between the Ministry of Heritage and Culture and the Portuguese Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

The foundation will support the ministry in developing museums and managing an integrated programme in restoration and preventive conservation of ancient relics. The two countries will also host cultural events and exhibition in each other’s cities.

The deal was signed for Oman by Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Under-secretary for Heritage Affairs, and for the foundation by Emilio Rui Vilar, Chairman of its Board of Trustees.
