The 81-km dual carriageway, involving 18 bridges across wadis, two roundabouts and a flyover to serve the Sohar Airport, now under construction, was inaugurated at a ceremony in Sohar by Sayyid Shabib bin Taimour Al Said in the presence of several other dignitaries. “The Sohar-Buraimi dual carriageway is one of the most important projects in the country’s development march,” Sayyid Shabib said in remarks to reporters.
The “vital road”, he noted, connected the Batinah region to Buraimi, giving a boost to inter-regional trade and tourism. He said the government gave top priority to setting up a most modern road network in the country, considering it as crucial “to ensure prosperity for citizens and to satisfy all their needs.”
