The Coast Guard acted after receiving a tip-off from Omani fishermen about an unidentified boat moving suspiciously in the sea. Patrol boats rushed swiftly to the location and took control of the vessel, a spokesman for ROP said.

Oman’s authorities have in recent months intensified efforts to apprehend foreigners entering the country illegally, following which there has been a significant decrease in their number.

Meanwhile, one person was killed in an accident on the Muscat Expressway on Sunday. Three others were injured. The tragedy occurred when the driver of a speeding car lost control of his vehicle and rammed into a truck.
