About 5,000 health workers staged the rally to draw government’s attention towards their plight. The participants were demanding confirmation of their services and a better pay structure.

As the protesters tried to move towards the Governor’s House in the high security ‘Red Zone’, they were stopped by the police who used water cannons, tear gas shells and also used batons to disperse them.

Police also arrested more than a dozen health workers for creating a law and order situation and trying to enter prohibited areas.
