MQM cuts short strike duration

In a late-night development, the MQM’s Coordination Committee reviewed its call for strike for Sunday, urging people to observe the strike for half a day only.
The MQM had given the strike call in protest against the Sindh government’s “anti-people” budget for 2015-16 presented in the provincial assembly earlier in the day. 
MQM chief Altaf Hussain reiterated call for resignation of  Prime Minister Nawaz Shaeif who had denounced the repeated calls for strikes.
Later, the party asked shopkeepers, transporters and the general public to resume their normal activities at 1pm on Sunday.
