United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the killing of Al Jazeera journalists in Gaza in an Israeli air strike, his spokesperson said on Monday.
“The secretary-general calls for an independent and impartial investigation into these latest killings,” said UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric. “At least 242 journalists have been killed in Gaza since the war began.
"Journalists and media workers must be respected, they must be protected and they must be allowed to carry out their work freely, free from fear and free from harassment.”

Five Al Jazeera journalists were killed by Israeli strikes which hit a tent near Shifa Hospital in eastern Gaza City, — Anas Sharif, Mohammed Qreiqeh, cameramen Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal, and Moamen Aliwa.
With tears streaming down their cheeks and heavy hearts, hundreds gathered in Gaza to carry out funeral prayers for the five journalists, who were wrapped in the Palestinian flag, with a press vest placed gently near one of them.
On the front lines of the crowd stood fellow colleagues of the dead reporters, wearing press vests themselves as they prayed for the ones who were out on the field beside them just hours before.
