Egypt: 5 siblings suffocate to death after gas leak at home

Security forces rushed to the scene with fire trucks and ambulances working together to contain the situation

In the early hours of Friday morning, the quiet village of Mit Asim, part of the Banha district in Egypt’s Qalyubia governorate, experienced a heartbreaking tragedy that claimed the lives of five siblings following a gas leak inside their home, based on local media reports.
According to initial reports, the victims, four girls and one boy, ranged in age from eight to eighteen.
According to local media, the leak led to severe gas inhalation, resulting in their suffocation and death before emergency teams could reach them.

Security forces were immediately dispatched to the scene, led by the head of the Criminal Investigation Branch in Banha and the head of the Banha Police Station Investigation Unit.
Fire trucks and ambulances also rushed to the site to provide support and handle the situation.
Upon examination, authorities confirmed that the deaths were caused by inhaling gas that had spread throughout the house. The bodies were transferred to the hospital under the supervision of the investigating authorities.
A formal report was filed, and the Public Prosecutor’s Office took over the investigation. The bodies were cleared for burial following the forensic autopsy, and the office also ordered an urgent investigation by the detectives.
