'She's a martyr': Father of Bahraini woman killed in Iranian attack breaks down in tears

Bahrainis gathered to attend the funeral of Sara Abdul Hamid Deshti, a 29-year-old woman who was killed in an Iranian attack on a residential building in the Al Seef suburb, holding her coffin and offering support to the bereaved father.
On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, Bahrain's Ministry of Interior said that alongside Sara, eight people were injured in the strike. Gulf countries, including Bahrain, has been targeted by attacks from Iran since its war with the US and Israel erupted on February 28.
Scenes from Sara's funeral showed mourners carrying her coffin draped in black cloth before burial as rain poured down. The attendees then shook hands with the father, offering support and expressing their condolences.

'She's a martyr'
Sara's father could not hold back his tears as he spoke to media representatives at the funeral.
"She's a martyr for sure, a sacrifice for the homeland. What do you want me to say. I lost her," the father told a reporter at the scene. Watch this AFP video:
A Bahrini official attended the funeral to offer his sympathies, saying that he also conveyed condolences from Sheikh Khaled bin Humood, the Capital Governor, to the family.
"These events only make the people of Bahrain stronger and more united," he said, while another official stated: "War losses are always a loss for everyone; there are no winners. We ask God to protect our homeland, Bahrain, and to protect everyone. May these wars end quickly, God willing."
Sara was burried in Manama's Al Houra cemetery, according to Al Ayam newspaper.
