Addressing a hurriedly-called Press conference at Hyderabad Press Club, Mirza also announced his resignation from the Sindh Assembly, adding that his earlier ministerial post had been changed to Sindh senior minister due to political blackmail.

During his hour-long address Mirza’s centre of criticism was the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Interior Mnister Rehman Malik, whom he described as an “enemy of Pakistan”.

Deploring conditions in Karachi, Mirza said that he would have brought peace to the city within 15 days if he had been given a free hand and Malik banished from the city.

Mirza alleged that Malik is “hand in glove with terrorists” and that he has evidence that will implicate him and he was willing to hand over this evidence to the government, army and intelligence agencies whenever needed.

“I have repeatedly told the PPP leadership that Rehman Malik is a pathological liar. He has no stake in Pakistan and he will run away when the time will come,” declared Mirza.

He also alleged that there was a “manipulated” mandate in Karachi and Hyderabad through stuffed votes and that the MQM has exploited people’s sentiments.

Mirza also alleged that the MQM was behind the murder of Wali Babar, a private TV channel reporter who was shot dead in Liaquatabad No. 1 when he was on his way to home from office.

Rubbishing the suggestion that he was anti-Mohajir, Mirza said he was not against those who migrated from India, adding that most of his family members were married into Urdu speaking families. “I am proud to belong to Shia sect and I am a firm believer of Imam Hussain who sacrificed his own life and family members for upholding Islam,” he added.

Mirza warned that from now on he will spend every penny and his life to liberate Karachi and Hyderabad from the MQM mafia and described Lyari residents as the rightful owners of Karachi.
