The Court of Appeal's criminal circuit in Kuwait on Sunday upheld a tentative death sentence against Abdulrahman Sabah Eidan, the prime suspect in the bombing of the Al Imam Al Sadiq Mosque in Kuwait City that killed 26 and injured a further 227 in January.

Kuwaiti News Agency, KUNA, reported that the court also decided to halt cross-examination into the appeal filed by the public prosecution against the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth defendants, pending conclusion of the appeal process duration.

The court repealed a tentative death sentence against the ninth defendant, Fahad Muhareb, acquitting him of the charges that warrant the death penalty, and as a result, he was given a 15-year prison sentence, to be followed with expulsion from the country, according to KUNA.
