Kerala's top billionaires will share the secret of their success with selected millionaires from the southern Indian state in the state's commercial capital of Cochin on August 10.
The unique interaction between the two is being facilitated by Hurun Report, a leading luxury and lifestyle magazine based at Shanghai in China, as part of their programme to felicitate the billionaires from the state.
Five billionaires have confirmed their participation in the event, christened "109 - The Journey". They are M.A. Yusuf Ali of Abu Dhabi headquartered Lulu Group, Dr Azad Moopen, who owns a string of hospitals in the Middle East and in India, Paul John of Kumarakom Lake Resort, P.N.C. Menon of Sobha Group and T.S. Kalyanaraman of Kalyan Group.
Around 100 millionaires have been invited as delegates at the high profile event. Hurun Report India head Anas Rahman Junaid said that the interaction between the two was intended to encourage the millionaires to step into the next level.
The billionaires will describe their journey and the problems and challenges they have faced along the way. The delegates will also be given opportunities to discuss their successes and problems they confront.
Anas said some Chinese investors and billionaires were also expected to participate in the event, which is the first of its kind in south India. He feels this may help in showcasing Kerala for foreign direct investment from some iconic brands.
The billionaire appreciation event is the second global business event to be held by Hurun in India, after Mumbai. Hurun holds up to 52 of these events annually in China. There will be five events in India this year and this will go up in the future. The next event is proposed to be held at Chennai. Billionaires from all over the southern states will be felicitated there.
The Hurun Report is expected to come out with Kerala 2015 rich list later in the year. It had listed 18 richest Malayalees in its 2014 report. Of this seven are located abroad, mostly in the Middle East, six in Kerala and five in other parts of India.
Yusuf Ali headed the list with a total net worth of Rs114 billion. Ravi Pillai of Bahrain-based RP Group came second with Rs96 billion and Sunny Varkey, founder of Dubai-based Gems Education third with assets of Rs90 billion.
