Responding to fresh allegations regarding wealth levelled against Bhushan by opposition leader V S Achuthanandan in the Assembly, Chandy said that the Chief Secretary had no undeclared wealth. Achuthanandan had tried to support his earlier allegation regarding concealment of wealth by the top civil servant by alleging that Bhushan had undeclared land in Quilon, Aleppey and Trichur district.

The opposition leader had earlier alleged that Bhushan had undeclared properties in New Delhi and Trivandrum. He had also accused the chief secretary of indulging in corrupt deals. The allegations came after a section of IAS officers came out openly against the head of the civil service alleging harassment.

Replying to the allegation regarding wealth, Chandy said that the chief secretary had no land in Quilon and Aleppey and the land attributed to him at Trichur was the family share of his wife. The chief minister said Bhushan had declared this in the wealth statement he gave to the government.

He also denied Achuthanandan’s allegation that Bhushan had helped a Mumbai-based builder to grab 17 cents of government land at Pattoor. Chandy said that the builder had allegedly encroached the land in 2009 when Achuthanandan headed the government.

He said his government had initiated a survey to identify the government land and if it is found encroached it would be retrieved. Chandy said that his government will not allow anybody to demoralize employees by raising false allegations against them.
