Kerala Yathra reaffirms ties of brotherhood
The Kerala Yathra led by all India Sunni Jamiyyathul Ulama general secretary Kanthapuram A P Aboobacker Musaliyar from the state’s northern tip of Kasargod ended here on Saturday with thousands of people taking the oath of brotherhood.
About a half a million people from all over the state converged in the city for the concluding ceremony held at the Chandrashekharan Nair stadium. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Power Ministers Aryadan Mohammed, Health Minister VS Sivakumar, state Congress chief Ramesh Chennithala, Dr Shashi Tharoor MP and Major Archbishop Baselios Mar Clemis greeted him on the occasion.
Over 25,000 volunteers in special uniform took out a brotherhood rally from Putharikandam Maidan on the occasion. The yathra was organised to uphold the theme of human values and create awareness against social evils.
