IPS officer accuses hubby of dowry harassment
AHMEDABAD — A young Gujarat-cadre Indian Police Service (IPS) officer married only two years ago has filed a complaint of dowry harassment as well as physical and mental torture against her husband who is a deputy collector in neighbouring Rajasthan.
Saroj Kumari, a 2011-batch IPS officer now deputy superintendent of police in Valsad in south Gujarat, married Narsingh Hajarilal, a Rajasthan Administrative Service officer, in June 2011. According to her complaint, after she was posted in Gujarat a few months ago, her husband started demanding dowry, using abusive language to threaten her, assaulting her and asking her to quit her job.
