An aircraft belonging to a private airline suffered damage when a stepladder was detached from its parked position due to heavy winds blowing at Mumbai Airport, on Saturday morning, officials said.

The incident happened around 7.30am when the stepladder belonging to SpiceJet, parked at stand C87 suddenly got detached due to heavy winds, moved backwards and banged into the IndiGo aircraft parked nearby.

A SpiceJet spokesperson said that there was no prior weather warning or advisory and the stepladder was well secured with chocks in place.

The IndiGo aircraft has reportedly been damaged on its wings and the engine cowling. A probe has been ordered into the incident, said the spokesperson.
