Increase in Bahrain local workforce

Third quarter figures showrise in wages

The labour market’s indicators for the third quarter of 2013 (Q3’13) showed increase in local workforce by 6.4 per cent.

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) issued 35, 723 permits — including 214 permits for investors. This confirms the stability of the economy and the growth of the market.

According to the statistics of the Social Insurance Organisation (SIO), 1,146 new Bahraini workers joined the labour market in the third quarter. The average wage in the private sector has grown an estimated 4.3 per cent.

The average monthly salary of a Bahraini worker increased to BD504 per month from BD494 — an increase of two per cent from same quarter of 2012. The average monthly pay in he private sector was BD649, an increase of 4.3 per cent.

Commemorative stampsissued for National Day

Bahrain Post has issued four commemorative stamps crowned with the portrait of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to mark the Kingdom of Bahrain’s celebrations of its National Day.

These stamps have been issued to represent an artistic work that highlights the bright factors behind the development and prosperity of Bahrain. The National Day’s 2013 stamps come in denominations of 200, 250, 300 and 400 fils, along with the First Day’s Cover priced at BD1,500. The stamps were designed by Khalid Al Muharraqi.

BDF Military Museumrecords huge turnout

The Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) Military Museum witnessed a great turnout where it opened its doors for the public on the occasion of Kingdom of Bahrain National Days celebrations on December 16 and 17, marking the anniversary of the establishment of the modern state of Bahrain as an Arab and Muslim country in 1783 by its founder Ahmed Al Fateh.

The occasion also marked the 42nd anniversary of its accession to UN as a full member and 14th anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa’s accession to the throne.

The museum received a great number of citizens and residents, where they were informed on the historical march of Kingdom of Bahrain.

The visitors viewed images for the development of BDF, also showing its weapons and units, as well as the hall of the rulers of Bahrain, the hall of the historical forts, the hall of the historical records and documents, the hall of the genuine Arab horses, the hall of the old weapons, and also other historical halls.

Bahrain chairs Arab e-media committee meeting

Bahrain has chaired the 7th meeting of the Arab e-media committee in Cairo. Information Affairs Authority (IAA) media director Yusuf Mohammed Ismael presided over the two-day session which discussed 15 issues featuring on the agenda of the meeting.

The delegations stressed the importance of stepping up cooperation and enhancing work mechanisms to develop the Arab e-media sector. They stressed the need to exchange radio and TV programmes, reports, studies and researches relating to the media sector as well as exchanging media expertise.

Ismael said that Arab delegations realised the importance of stepping investments in e-media to advocate pan-Arab causes. The delegations agreed to launch the committee websites to enhance the presence of the Arab media on the international arena and disseminate the Arab e-content on a larger scope.
