The government has also announced it would take a long march the same day to mark the independence anniversary.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has summoned a meeting of the party’s core committee for Tuesday to review strategy for the million-man long march planned by the PTI on August 14.
The government has also announced it would take a long march the same day to mark the independence anniversary. The venue of both rallies will be the D-Chowk opposite Parliament House, Islamabad.
The coincidence of two rallies converging at same place has aroused concerns among political circles of a possible clash and violence. The government says it has planned the march to promote national solidarity and integrity. Leaders of all political parties including Imran Khan have been invited to address the rally where only one flag, that of Pakistan, would be allowed to underpin the national nature of the event above any partisan consideration.
Central Senior PTI Vice-President Asad Umar said the core committee will discuss the overall political situation in the country including the issue of internally displaced persons.
