Hindu community is well-protected: Minister

KARACHI — Sindh Excise and Taxation Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla on Tuesday rejected the claims that there was lack of protection to Hindu community in Sindh and that a large number of people have gone to India seeking refuge there.

“The notion pertaining to lack of protection of Hindus in Sindh is baseless and certain elements are spreading such propaganda to serve their own vested interests”, the minister told a representative delegation of the Hindu community at his office.

The minister informed the delegation that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)-led coalition was aware of the problems of the minority community and added that a 15-member committee has been formed on the directives of President Asif Ali Zardari to monitor the situation in the province.
