Qatar summons Iran ambassador after attack on US base

Qatar summoned the Iranian ambassador on Tuesday after Iran attacked the major US military base on Qatari soil following American strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

The foreign ministry expressed its "strong condemnation" of the attack and repeated that it "retains the right to respond to this egregious violation", a statement said.

Iran earlier said that its actions did not pose any threat to "brotherly" Qatar. Hours after the Iranian strikes on Al Udeid base in Qatar, Trump announced what he called a "complete and total" ceasefire to end the 12-day war.

After the ceasefire took effect, Israel has accused Iran of violations, and said it will "respond with force".
