Qatar expresses strong condemnation of Iranian attacks on Duqm Port in Oman

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar has issued a statement expressing its strong condemnation of the Iranian attacks that targeted the commercial Duqm Port in Oman and an oil tanker off its coasts.

The statement said that it considers the attack a 'violation of the Sultanate's sovereignty, an unacceptable escalation, and a cowardly targeting of a country playing an active role in mediation efforts between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the international community' to ease tensions and promote meaningful discussions aimed at resolving outstanding issues.

The Duqm commercial port was targeted by two drones on Sunday, one of which struck a mobile workers' accommodation, the Oman News Agency reported.

A security source reported that, due to the strike on the accommodation, an expatriate worker was injured. According to the statement, debris from the other fell into an area near the fuel tanks; however, there were no human or material losses.

Saudi Arabia also issued a statement strongly condemning what it described as the 'treacherous Iranian aggression' against Oman, calling Iran’s actions a blatant violation of Omani sovereignty and expressing full solidarity with the Sultanate in the face of the attacks.

Kuwait has also issued similar statement condemning the Iranian attacks in in Oman.
